Bouncer KYB
Check a UK company against Companies House and four sanctions lists, record your decision and keep a report.
Bouncer KYB (Know Your Business) helps a compliance team check a UK company before working with it. You search for the company and choose the exact entity. The panel at kyb.bouncer.digital gathers what the official sources say about it and suggests a recommendation. You make the decision.
What it does
For every check, Bouncer KYB:
- Looks the company up live at Companies House, the official register of UK companies: its status, registered office, filing deadlines, officers, persons with significant control (its beneficial owners), filings and registered charges.
- Looks for its Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) in GLEIF, the global LEI register. It links an LEI only when one GLEIF record clearly matches the company number or the legal name, and then shows the parent companies GLEIF reports. Most small companies have no LEI, and that is normal.
- Screens names against four sanctions lists: the company itself, its current officers and its current beneficial owners are compared with the UK Sanctions List (FCDO), the EU Consolidated Financial Sanctions List, the UN Security Council Consolidated List and the OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List. Only names are compared, so a match is something for you to review, not proof that it is the same person or company.
- Gives an automated recommendation: approve, review or reject, with every reason behind it.
- Records your decision: Approve, Reject or Escalate, with a comment when the rules ask for one.
- Keeps a record: every check and every decision goes into an audit log that cannot be edited or deleted in the panel, and every check has a printable report that you can save as a PDF.
The recommendation is automated advice. It follows documented rules and uses what the sources returned at the time of the check. The decision is always yours.
What it covers
Bouncer KYB covers entities registered at Companies House, in the United Kingdom, and nothing else.
It does not:
- check companies registered outside the United Kingdom;
- screen for politically exposed persons (PEPs) or adverse media;
- monitor a company after the check or alert you when something changes (run the check again instead);
- check UK VAT numbers or the HMRC AWRS register (a check gives you a link to the official AWRS search instead);
- check companies in bulk or through an API: checks are run one by one in the panel.
Your organisation is set up with Bouncer. To get access for yourself or a colleague, or for any question about your account, ask your Bouncer contact.
